The Peninsula Tokyo

Entrance Peninsula Hotel

From the lobby’s marble floor to the top floor’s panoramic views, The Peninsula Tokyo is, in its entirety, refined through and through. As Tokyo’s landmark hotel, this location of The Peninsula Group doesn’t lack for opulence. The fusion of traditional Japanese culture, the latest technology, sublime service and a prime location makes this one of Japan’s precious hotel gems.

Centralized in the heart of the city within walking distance of the Imperial Palace Gardens and just minutes away from Ginza, Tokyo’s prime shopping district, the hotel brings a new aesthetic to Japan. The Peninsula Tokyo resides within Marunouchi, translated from Japanese as “inside the circle,” an apt name for the distinct neighborhood. Guests on business trips or those who desire the crème de la crème of retail will find it in the ideal locale.

Grand Staircase Peninsula Hotel

The lobby feels surreal, with muted lighting and an echo of a modern Japanese ambience. Wooden lattices are a recurring design motif throughout, first noticed against the lobby’s cream walls. The chandelier is comprised of 1,313 crystal LED lights, resembling a cloud of fireflies. At the far end is an incandescent bamboo sculpture, depicting a dragon hovering over the universe. Created by Japanese designer Keisen Hama, the mythological creature represents strength, harmony and good. Guests checking in get a taste of what the rest of the hotel is like in the tranquil but modern reception area.

The hotel’s 267 rooms and 47 suites are some of the most spacious accommodations in Tokyo. Featuring opulent furniture and sumptuous furnishings, they include user-friendly state of the art technology: bedside curtain controls, complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as a personal thermostat for each room. While there’s a king sized bed and plasma TV in the bedroom, the large marble bath has another flat screen TV that’s built-in and automatically mutes whenever the bath’s telephone rings. There’s enough room for a dining table for two, ample seating, a dressing area and a desk. Deluxe rooms are the most popular but for the most stunning views, book a Deluxe Corner which offers two different views. The Peninsula Suite has its own private balcony and the Executive Suite a spa bath.

Peter The Bar

A stay at the Peninsula Tokyo must include a visit to Peter. He’s not a person, but by the end of the meal you’ll wish you could gratefully shake his hand! The Peninsula Tokyo’s acclaimed restaurant designed by the starchitect firm, Yabu Pushelberg, is on the 24th floor of the hotel and serves delicious international cuisine. The breathtaking 360-degree views from the floor to ceilings windows are reached via exclusive express elevators from the lobby. Described as “the dining heaven with a view”, Peter seats 128 for main dining and has two semi-private dining areas, one with an outside terrace. The dining area is infused with “nasu”- a deep eggplant purple and lavender, complimentary colors that also show up in the bar. You can sip on one of their signature cocktails while lounging among metallic trees that create a fun and futuristic urban atmosphere.

Deluxe Park View Night

A great venue for weddings, the Peninsula Tokyo has everything conveniently situated on one floor, from the modern chapel to an extravagant ballroom. The hotel offers a Japanese Shinto Ceremony room as well as a team to assist with the most meticulous details. Larger business conferences can be conducted in any one of the hotel’s designated spaces and the hotel offers airport transfers in their Rolls-Royces or BMWs. The Peninsula Tokyo is also surprisingly kid friendly and the younger guests won’t get enough of the hotel’s activities. The Peninsula Academy can enroll youngsters ages 4 and up in its chocolate factory program or children can enjoy shopping in Ginza through the toyshop wonderland program.

The Peninsula Spa Tokyo revitalizes body, mind and spirit with relaxing body treatments and beautifying skincare. The Spa utilizes a combination of Oriental, Ayurvedic and European approaches and has an array of services to choose from. The Health Club Centre is personalized with personal TVs mounted on machines and personal trainers at the ready. The beautiful indoor pool is as refreshing as it is gorgeous.
