When I say Coco, you say Key…Coco Key!

We arrive right in the heart of all the Orlando, Florida action – rides and attractions everywhere you turn, and the kids don’t want to leave CocoKey Water Resort.  Talk about location. This place is on International Drive, which is the main vein of all the fun stuff to do in Orlando. They also have shuttle service to Universal, Aquatica, SeaWorld and Wet n’ Wild parks which are nearby.  Walt Disney World and the downtown Business District are just minutes away.  Not that any of this matters, because when our kids got to Coco Key- they didn’t want to leave.

The rooms are modern and comfortable. The staff is professional and helpful.

The park is out of this world awesome, convenient, perfect for everyone and (obviously) family-friendly.  The outdoor water park has 14 different water slides, perfect for keeping kids of all ages entertained for hours and hours.  They also have a tiki bar, perfect for keeping the adults entertained for hours and hours.  Our kids loved it.  We planted ourselves at a table right in the park and soaked in the sun while the kids went from slide to slide within our looking distance.  When we could finally get them to take a break from the water park, we would grab a nice, relaxing lunch from the on-site bar and grill and sit outside under a beautiful canopy by one of the four swimming pools.  At night the kids would spend time in the resort’s gigantic arcade and then we would venture out, taking advantage of the cool attractions surrounding the resort.   If you have kids, Coco Key is by far the best place to stay when visiting Universal Studios and the other attractions located near International Drive.

Tips for Mom

Honestly, the kids will not want to leave.  Give yourself a full day to enjoy this park.

Plan to see the attractions close to Coco Key first then venture to Walt Disney World. The I-Ride Trolley will take you to all the attractions that are close by, for cheap.   There is hotel shuttle service to Universal, Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld, and Aquatica, which are also right in the area. Walt Disney World is about nine miles away.

If you’re walking to the nearby attractions wear comfortable shoes. I wore my Luna Sandals, by Barefoot Ted (from the book Born to Run).  They are these modern looking minimalist sandals, kinda like your bare footing around town.  They are so comfortable and cute. (lunasandals.com).

The food is tasty from the onsite grill.  We enjoyed ordering lunch there and then eating under one of the beautiful gazebos located near the pool.

Cabana

A nice feature in the Coco Key Water Park is the canopy-covered section for the younger children, which was perfect for my 3 year old.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not – Very cool and odd place.  Weird, wild and wacky stuff that will keep the kids shocked and captivated for the entire self-guided tour.  One of the over 400 exhibits, the spinning vortex tunnel, was an absolute hit, it was hilariously fun.

Wonderworks – Just walking into this place amazed the kids. The whole place is upside down.  You have to check out the Bed of Nails, which I reluctantly let my 5-year old lay on.  He loved it.  The kids also had quite the adventure on the 3-Story Ropes Challenge Course.

Pirate’s Dinner Adventure – This show was exciting, entertaining, and extremely loud.  The food was surprisingly delicious.  The kids enjoyed the pirates and the amazing aerial and acrobatics.
