Etnosoi!

Etnosoi Concert 2

Put on your dancing shoes, because here comes Etnosoi!! For all you music lovers, Finland’s Etnosoi! brings a whole new kind of musical experience from all corners of the globe. Happening in Helsinki, the festival is brought to you by The City of Helsinki and the Ministry of Education and Culture.

You’ll hear music you’ve never heard before, since the festival brings unprecedented artists to Finland. Close your eyes and sway to the voices of folk from Turkey, the steady beats of Hungarian electronic, and the lone guitar of African acoustic. From November 7-11, you’ll experience Finland’s capital in a constant party mood. What began in 1988, this has become the oldest world music festival, held in the Helsinki Music Centre.

Etnosoi Concert

Come and dance the night (and day) away with constant concerts, clubs and exhibitions. It’s never too late or too early to love music. Etnosoi! brings you Children’s Day with music geared for kids and is just in time for Father’s Day on the second Sunday of November (no, it’s not in June for the Finnish).

Among some names from last year are Finnish folk bands Sväng, Pole Pole and Äijä. There was also Abaxeiro from Brazil on Children’s Day, and Deba, all the way from Mayotte Island, performing ceremonial Sufi songs and dances. Talk about globetrotters.

Etnosoi Park People

If your feet start to feel a little sore and your throat a little hoarse from all that jumping and shouting, take a break with the many exhibitions and lectures, all about music. Last year, for example, you could’ve learned a couple of fun facts about the music and meditation of Islamic Mysticism.

Get ready to break a sweat, because you’ll be swinging your hips, waving your arms and stomping your feet!
