Steak 954 is a restaurant not to be missed while staying in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There are hardly any words to describe how delicious their menu is. With the sound and sight of the crashing ocean waves and smells of juicy steak and fresh seafood you’re bound to have a sensory overload.
Located in the W Hotel, Steak 954 offers a twist on the traditional steakhouse. It is owned by famed restaurateur Stephen Starr, whose culinary empire includes Buddakan and Morimoto in Philadelphia and New York City. He is known for mixing high-style design and glamour which is exactly what Steak 954 radiates.
The décor encompasses an array of vibrant blues and greens that glow against the dark woods and bold floral wallpaper. A 15-foot aquarium sits in the middle of the restaurant and is home to a school of jellyfish creating a seductive and sophisticated scene. Outside, tables are covered above by a canopy of ivy vines with small ambience lighting peeking through so as to not take away from the breathtaking ocean view and moonlight. This outdoor seating makes for a refreshing weekend brunch spot as well.
Steak 954’s menu is extensive but some of my favorites include the Lobster and Crab Coconut Ceviche and the Big Eye Tuna & Foie Gras Tacos. For steak lovers, you have hit the jackpot because I have experienced the best steak I’ve ever had- the 8 oz. Kobe Filet. It is cooked to perfection at 1700 degrees and just melts in your mouth. Whipped Potatoes, Stuffed Hash Browns and Glazed Baby Carrots are among the assortment of sides to complement the Kobe Filet or any entrée for that matter.
While dining at Steak 954 you should abandon your regular drink order and dare to try one of their signature cocktails, you won’t be disappointed. Their handcrafted cocktails are made with only the freshest ingredients. My two favorites are the Victoria and Sunrise. The Victoria is made with Belvedere vodka, watermelon water and cranberry and the Sunrise is made with Bacardi Silver, passion fruit puree, pineapple juice and sage.
So whether you stop by Steak 954 for a mimosa and Eggs Benedict in the morning or a Kobe Filet and a Victoria for dinner, Steak 954 offers quality cuisine and a chic atmosphere perfect for locals and tourists alike.
