The White House Goes Pink

Everyone loves Cherry Blossoms.  If you don’t agree, it’s because you haven’t seen `em at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. This year’s festival will celebrate the 99th anniversary of the 3,000 Yoshino cherry trees presented by the Mayor of Tokyo to the city of Washington as a “memorial of national friendship between the United States and Japan.” You can take part in this culturally rich experience bringing two nations together, while gazing at the breathtaking blooms. Timing is March 26- April 10.

The festival highlights the annual blooming of the thousands of cherry trees along the Tidal Basin and elsewhere in the nation’s capital. Visitors can take a bite of D.C. history by joining the National Cherry Blossom Festival and explore the city amid the serene beauty. You’ll be able to soak up the sun with these gorgeous flowers, also known as Sakuras.

In the spirit of the celebration, The Fairmont Hotel is welcoming spring with their signature Cherry Blossom Package available March 25- April 15, 2011.  You can witness the awesome spectacle while enjoying the Fairmont’s phenomenal hospitality. What does their Cherry Blossom Package entail, you may ask? It’s their spring kickoff special, where guests are offered overnight accommodations for two with complimentary valet parking, and a box of assorted note cards by Jake McGuire, Washington’s celebrated photographer- all starting for $229 per night- not bad huh?

Also, did I mention what’s happening in the interior courtyard at the Fairmont? Alongside the blooming city, the courtyard will be flourishing with a variety of dazzling flowers, plants and trees- an enchanting paradise for hosting weddings and social events.
