Summer will be here before you know it, so now is the perfect time to start planning your next trip to an island under the sun.  The Squire has found a 9-day, all-inclusive “Splendid Sicily” tour, visiting both Palermo and Taormina (Sicily’s power towns) and providing first-class accommodations, meals and wine tastings.

Sicily’s draw lies not only in its beautiful Mediterranean location and southern Italian charm but also in its unique style that draws visible influence from yhe surrounding regions, such as Greece and Asia.  Travelers can see a vast array of architectural influences on a trip through Sicily’s capital, Palermo, walking through its medieval streets and stepping into baroque churches against the backdrop of Norman architecture.

The “Splendid Sicily” tour prices range from $2,590 to $2,790 per person, double, (excluding flights and gratuities for guides) with 15 departures from April 23 to October 15.  The tour spends 4 nights in Palermo and 3 in Taormina, with itinerary highlights including a wine tasting in Marsala (Palermo), a visit to the Greek city of Selinus and a wine tasting and lunch in Mount Etna.  Other stops include Monreale, Selinunte, Piazza Amerina, Siracusa and Noto.

Accommodations in Palermo include the centrally located Grand Hotel et Des Palms, nearby the city’s two main theaters: Teatro Massimo and Teatro Politeama.  In Taormina, stay is provided at the 4 star Hotel Villa Diodoro where guests can enjoy views of Mount Etna and the Naxos Bay.  Tours include a daily buffet breakfast, five dinners and one lunch, two wine tastings and vineyard tours.
