Best Places to Relax Après-Oscars

The Oscars may seem like all fun and games to a non-celebrity, but for the A-list, the preparation involved in getting red carpet ready is a full-time job. Don’t forget that the Academy Awards is the final night in an endless string of awards ceremonies and parties that stretch from the first of the year until the end of February. There is too much dieting, a surplus of champagne and way too much schmoozing.

Sigh. Celeb problems. But A-listers –namely this year’s winners Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, Daniel Day-Lewis, Ben Affleck, Ang Lee and Christoph Waltz (OK, the Academy Award nominees deserve a break, too) are definitely in dire need of a vacation.

Here are the best spots to relax après the Oscars, should these big screen champions decide to take a break at all, that is (Jennifer Lawrence, we’re talking to you: heading to Hawaii to shoot another movie does not count)!

 

Hawaii

OK, so technically she’s doing reshoots for Catching Fire, the sequel to 2012’s popular dystopian teen film, The Hunger Games, but Jennifer Lawrence couldn’t look more relaxed in Hawaii if she tried. The 22-year-old Best Actress winner is enjoying the epic sunsets, sultry summer weather and many bottles of wine during her stay on Oahu. If you have the option, stay and surf on the private, rustic North Shore.

 

Fiji

Nothing says ‘I’m a star and I want to be alone’ Greta Garbo-style than renting an entire island. Yes, you can actually do this. Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz are among the Oscar-worthy stars that have rented out the Fijian island of The Wakaya Club. Why do they go? In addition to the majestic beauty of the 2,200 acre tropical idyll, guests receive chilled Taittinger champagne upon arrival, an endless supply of fruit, fully stocked minibar, Fijian sulus and slippers as keepsakes and postcards – just in case you want to fill-in your friends at home who no doubt will be completely jealous of the VIP treatment you’re receiving.

 

Italy

While in The Boot, he drinks fine wines, goes on playful boating excursions and treats himself to delectable Italian food.  If Mr. Clooney doesn’t issue you a personal invite, however, you’ll have to make do with a luxury hotel the way Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Depp have.  Don’t shoot the messenger!

 

Los Angeles

You’re thinking to yourself ‘Really? Los Angeles? But isn’t that where the so-called celebrity stress starts?’ Well, yes, that may be true, but haven’t you heard of a staycation? Sometimes it’s hard for an A-lister to simply jet off to an exotic locale – not everyone has a private plane, you know. That’s why many, like Anne Hathaway, choose to relax in the city that loves them. Stay in an opulent hotel, dine at the best restaurants and pamper yourself silly in one of the many world-renowned spas in the City of Angels.
