As if a stay in London’s absolutely fabulous Chelsea could get any more fabulous, the Draycott Hotel, a romantic town house property around the corner from Chelsea’s Slone Square, is currently offering guests an experience that combines personal shopping with a celebrity stylist. I mean does it get any better than that, girls? Toss in a full English breakfast and afternoon tea and you’re practically ready for your makeover. Bettina, where is my hat and passport?
Along with two night’s accommodations, their “Styled in Chelsea” package will whisk you away on a four hour adventure with fashion stylist Ghaz, who in addition to several appearances on Extreme Makeover UK, has styled photo shoots for magazines and commercials. A shopping guru with a long standing career in fashion and style consulting, Ghaz will take guests to the district’s best boutiques, including international flagships, haute couturiers and long established traditional outfitters. Known for his highly individualized personal styling, Ghaz’s specialty is creating a personalized look and helping clients make the most of their sense of style. The Draycott’s special package is the only way to experience the London we’ve all grown to love – the swinging one.
The three restored red brick Edwardian homes that comprise the hotel are quintessentially English and many of the 35 suites have their own fireplace and garden view. It’s the perfect spot to hang your hat for a millisecond before dashing around town on a shopping spree. It doesn’t hurt either that they’re conveniently located in close proximity to some of London’s best museums and gourmet delights. Dearie, you may not have time for the museums, methinks, but a girl’s gotta eat! In typical boutique hotel fashion, the Draycott offers charming extras like homemade biscuits at 4 pm, champagne at 6 pm and hot chocolate at 9:30 pm. Perfect after your liquid lunch at Harvey Nichols in their Fifth Floor Bar (after your spree, of course).
When guests aren’t getting the royal treatment from Ghaz, they’ll be checking out the best of London’s new hipster neighborhoods in East London. And what’s a London getaway without at least a pop in to Harrod’s for a little nibbly in the Food Hall? And if you have an iota of energy left the David Bowie Is exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum is simply a must to inspire your next spree (perhaps in NYC with your new look?).
But be sure to make your way back to the Draycott in time for hot chocolate because you never know who you’ll meet over chocolate.
