Big news for smart and savvy travelers always on the go. DK Guides is re-launching their series of guide books this fall in celebration of their 20th anniversary. The new guides will be featuring some changes from previous editions in an effort to make exploring popular travel destinations easier.
New features include itineraries based on lengths of stay, regional destinations and themes. City guides will feature day-trip and weekend itineraries and country guides will cover itineraries ranging from 2 to 14 days. These itineraries will give travelers ideas on what to see and do even if it’s a layover or a month long trip. Of course, with all the listings in the guides travelers can always opt to plan their own trips and go out on their own.
If you’re the type who loves drinking and dining out, these guides will feature brand new listings for those traveling this year or next in their “Travelers’ Needs” section. New accommodation listings will also be featured for even more choices on where to stay. DK will also provide their special recommendations in the new guides by highlighting select restaurants or properties. All the listings will have simplified price and cuisine categories and photos making it even easier to decide what fits one’s budget or tastes. Travelers looking to try something new or local will be well-informed with these guides as they also go into detail on local dishes and beverages.
DK’s maps have also undergone a few changes for easier navigating with beefed up detailed street maps, subway stop locations and points of interest. The public transportation maps will allow you to get around like a local and skip the taxis. Some favorite features are still retained such as the walks, scenic routes, and thematic tours for travelers to take their pick. DK’s dissected and detailed illustrations on popular sights known as Star Sights have also been given some attention with a cleaner re-design and numbered bullets for easier navigation.
If you’re heading anywhere soon or planning for next year, good idea to pick up a DK Guide to get the skinny on your destination. Consider these little travel guides your secret for exploring destinations like a pro.
