Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort and Spa

Monterey, California is renowned for its aquamarine coastline, ocean-to-fork cuisine, and 18th-century adobe architecture. Once a hub for working canneries, Monterey served as the capital of Alta California under Spanish rule. It has long attracted artists for its scenic wonders. Today, the region’s historical and culinary roots remain. To anchor your stay as you explore the area, the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort and Spa welcomes travelers with an extensive multi-million-dollar remodel that provides the luxury and comfort you crave.

With a nod to the coolest trends country-wide now, the hotel offers pickleball courts in addition to tennis. It also provides complimentary electric car chargers. On the environmental front, the hotel issues clear water bottles for each guest and encourages daily hydration with filtered water stations arranged throughout the resort. Couples, small groups, and spa enthusiasts have excellent options. Consider the refreshed rooms, a new fleet of bicycles, a redesign of the public spaces, and both the new Spa Adeline and Sea Root restaurant.

New Design Touches at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort and Spa

Set on 22 lush acres of the Del Monte Golf Course, Hyatt’s 560 rooms and suites feature a casual, clean aesthetic with white bed linens and headboards. Design mavens will thrill to the revitalized lounge, bar, and outdoor gathering spots featuring a light and bright palette with blonde wood furnishings accented by walls of cream and gray. Similarly decorated accommodations display varying tones of silver and rust. Artistic photos and prints of the Monterey coastline punctuate the decor. The 654 square foot one-bedroom Monterey suite, for example, offered up an ensuite sitting area and two baths. Views of the golf course’s putting green and cypress trees posed as idyllic postcard scenes.

In the mood for a little fireside romance? Snuggle up with a glass of wine beside the hotel’s signature gazebo fire pit or in one of the wicker egg chair swings. Another nuzzle-worthy hideaway awaits under one of the tented cabanas. For more seclusion, hoof it to the pool and whirlpool found on the other side of the resort.

This locale checks off all the essential boxes. Mediterranean-inspired Sea Root restaurant serves farm-to-table dishes along with fresh Pacific sea bass and salmon. Portions are substantial, beautifully plated, and fairly priced. The open-plan atmosphere with loads of windows is casual and inviting. Sea Root is located steps from the lobby, fireplace lounge, and bar. Drop in for Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wines, beers, and a signature cocktail price at just $6 and there is often live music when locals come to entertain.

If you fear you’re indulging just a bit too much, don’t worry. You’ll soon deserve downtime at the garden play area. You’ll find beanbag games, bocce ball court, and a full-fledged dart board with all the darts you need to nail a bull’s eye.

Find Your Zen at Spa Adeline

Don’t miss a visit to the on-site Spa Adeline, a new, pamper salon. This Zen space rings true on all the sensory notes. You’ll find soft couches with fluffy pillows and blankets. Power bar, fruit, and beverages are situated on a nearby table. Get comfy in your robe by the fireplace among candles. Then close your eyes and listen to your heartbeat along with the trickling fountain.

Think about starting off your spa day with a soak. A 30-minute immersion of bliss in a deep soaking tub comes with delicate music wafting in the background, mountains of fluffy bubbles, a tray of chocolate and a flute of champagne.  You’re alfresco in a big, beautiful mosaic pavilion with plants, a standing candelabra, and a stream of warm water descending from the ceiling into your tub.  Unlike other spas I’ve encountered, in this soaking experience, you are not led to a stuffy claustrophobic closet only big enough for the tub.

Owner Kimberly Carley, an industry veteran, stresses that each aesthetician and masseuse comes on board with years of expertise. Hence, a 90-minute facial delivered by Vanessa and a one-hour massage from the hands of Chloe were absolutely divine.
