Editor’s Note: Miami Space has now officially ended.
Foodies rejoice! Miami Spice is in full swing.
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau celebrates the 15th anniversary of this Superbowl of culinary festivals. Running through September 30, visitors to the ever popular destination can indulge in three-course meals at more than 240 restaurants for a reduced price.
More than 200 of Miami’s top restaurants are participating in the annual program this year – which officially began on Monday, August 1st – giving diners the opportunity to check out some top dining destinations at wallet-friendly prices.
It wouldn’t be Miami Spice without culinary competitions and this year’s opening night festivities included a fierce fight to the finish between Miami’s hottest talents. Hosted by celebrated chef Allen Susser, the ninth “Fork Off Competition” featured two talented tag teams – the “Wonder Twins” — chefs Fabrizio and Nicola Carro of Via Verdi Restaurant — and the “Dynamic Duo” — meat masters Dustin Ward of BLT Prime and Sean Brasel of Meat Market, vying against each other in a Chopped – style competition for bragging rights. Also chefs from select Miami Spice restaurants were timed to see who could shuck a dozen oysters the fastest. The competitors included chefs from Midtown Oyster Bar, Lure Fishbar, and JWD Prime Steak & Seafood. It all took place on the Monark Kitchen Stage by Amazon Pepper.
The epicurean event kicked off at 6PM for VIP ticketholders, and at 7PM for General Admission attendees. Iron Fork always brings together thousands of young professionals, local businesses, and foodies for an evening of gourmet food selections, tasty libations, and live entertainment.
