Art lovers will feel right at home in Modigliani Art & Design Suites, located in Mendoza, the capital of Argentina’s wine region. More than a hotel room, each suite has a complete kitchen and all the equipment needed to make a small feast, should your taste buds want a break from the traditional Argentine parilla you’d find in a local restaurant. Since, by definition, it is not a hotel, continental breakfast or room service is not offered, but can be provided optionally upon request; however, many cafes and restaurants are within a short walk. The suites, each one unique, have modern electronics, funky furniture, are well-groomed, boast decorative details like antiques picked up from the city’s weekly antique fair, and focus on mood lighting. Depending on your choice of accommodation, certain suites will offer a few more luxuries, but all of them are equally comfortable and smartly designed.
The property is a family affair but exists with the support of a professional, friendly and charming staff (“el Modigliani team”). While guests can enjoy the privacy of their own apartments they are welcomed like they would be at a country bed and breakfast. What’s more, is the staff will customize a travel itinerary for you, including excursions to the Andes, winery (bodega) tours, outdoor adventures such as white-water rafting, trekking, horseback riding, or guided tours of Mendoza’s art galleries. The knowledgeable team can also direct you to the best wine store in town, running paths in the city’s San Martin Park, or a quaint café on Peatonal Sarmiento. Guests are able to use the gym at the nearby Sheraton Hotel for a nominal fee as well.
Suites are reasonably priced, with rates ranging from $55 to $100 U.S. per night for up to two persons, depending on the apartment and season. For longer stays, considerable discounts are offered.
