Pampered Traveling

When you just want to kick back and enjoy some of life’s creature comforts what do you do? You go for broke and spoil yourself rotten, that’s what! The kind of activities we like (none of them “high energy” we promise) will make you forget about the hectic last few months you’ve had. Besides, you deserve a good break even if you haven’t been working hard. Here’s our short list of suggestions for pampering yourself on your next trip.

The Island Getaway:  Wakaya Club and Spa, Fiji

Wakaya Beach

Is there anything better than being stranded on a tropical island?  Of course, we wouldn’t want you to be stranded and be merely surviving; we want you to live as luxuriously as possible. This club will leave you marooned on your own private beach with your friends and the only way to go back to civilization, or to your private cottage, is to radio them for pick-up! It sounds crazy but they also leave you with some of the best food and drink while you’re hitting the surf. The resort itself is decadently fitted out with Tibetan rugs and personal hammocks in each cottage, or bures as they’re called and offers fine dining from internationally renowned chefs who participate in the property’s International Guest Chef program.

Book a Hotel Suite:  Marriot International

Azul Restaurant, Marriott

If you want to broaden your search but still want to indulge, then how about booking a hotel suite for yourself and maybe a special friend?  International hotel chains like Marriot International offer some stunning suites and cottages in their exotic locations. Even if you flew coach and are chowing down on street food, you’ll feel like a big shot once you’re kicking back in your massive Jacuzzi tub. Do some more digging and find a property with a spa and really live the good life.

Hot Springs Galore: Nyuto Onsen

Ganiba Onsen by Lucky Pines

These hot springs bear a strange name – “Nyuto” – which means nipple and derives from the suggestive imagery of the mountains nearby. However, these are a collection of seven different hot springs, each with its own mix of minerals for specific health benefits. If you’re looking for a serene and truly relaxing experience, then Japan’s hot springs (“onsen” in Japanese) are the ticket. If you’re brave, try them out during winter after a fresh snowfall. It will be cold, but the scenery will be beautiful and the hot water will melt your troubles away.
