The Five Best Beach Bars in the Caribbean

The sun, the music, the food, the laid-back lifestyle … who doesn’t love the Caribbean? And with a wintry chill blowing much of the East coast, I wish I was there right now. When I’m in the Caribbean, my favorite thing to do is to bake in the sun and feel the sand between my toes. And the only thing better than tanning all day on the beach is tanning all day on the beach with a tropical drink in your hand.

I’m sure you love searching out the perfect beach bar when you’re in the Caribbean, but sometimes it’s just too much work. That’s why I’ve done it for you! Here’s my shortlist of five amazing beach bars located throughout the Caribbean.

Treasure your chill out in the sun and relish your drink even more.

Sunshine’s, Nevis

Perhaps you’ve never heard of Nevis, a tiny island in the West Indies, but you might have heard of Sunshine’s, a beach bar frequented by celebrities such as Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Located on a picture-perfect beach, Sunshine’s serves delicious BBQ and is known for their Killer Bee rum punch, voted the best rum punch in the Caribbean. Sunshine himself will make sure you’re buzzing from a couple of ‘em and keep you grooving into the early morning. Hey, if Beyoncé loves it, I’m sure we will too.

Iggies Beach Bar & Grill, U.S. Virgin Islands

Enjoy the views and your VooDoo juice at Iggies Beach Bar & Grill, located a few feet from the water on the island of St. Thomas. VooDoo juice, a house specialty, mixes rum and fruit juice and comes served in a bucket. Now that sounds like a good time! Every week Iggies hosts Cruzan Carnival Night Extravaganza featuring local culture, entertainment, art, music, and food. It’s fun for the entire family.  Ah, I can imagine myself there now, dancing the night away…

The Wreck Bar & Grill, Grand Cayman

Get off the beaten path and journey to the Wreck Bar & Grill, serenely situated on the north side of Grand Cayman Island. Try the legendary Rum Point Mudslide made with vodka, Kahlua, and Bailey’s Irish Cream, while dining on the beach at a picnic table or lazing in a hammock. You’re sure to see local marine animals hanging out in the sunshine on the shore, and maybe even some snorkelers too.

Foxy’s, British Virgin Islands

If you’re in Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands, stop by Foxy’s where there’s a variety of specialty drinks and “everyday’s a party!” Two favorites are the Sly Fox—rum with margarita mix and a dash of bitters—and the Dread Fox—rum on the rocks with lime sour mix and cranberry juice, and both are made with Foxy’s homemade rum! Foxy’s hosts special Christmas and New Year’s celebrations for those looking to get away for the holidays.
