Travel: Stalled for Now, but Not Forever

Flights are canceled. Cruise ships are docked. Borders have closed. Nothing’s happening in Vegas. Last call happened days ago. Even Disney’s magic has ceased. As an unprecedented pandemic stretches across the globe, life as we know it has temporarily come to a halt.

As a lifelong traveler who continuously looks forward to the next adventure, this is my waking nightmare. However, I refuse to sink into it and am squarely focused on the future. Travel will be back, and I’ll be among the first to book a flight.

In the Meantime

At TravelSquire we’d love to keep you up to date with the latest happenings in the world of travel. But to be honest, that’s impossible. Minute by minute the rules are changing. So instead of taking our place in the nonstop news cycle, we’re going another direction. We may not be able to reach our favorite destinations right now, but we can still write about the things that make each one special. We can also tell you the stories of the people that bring character to each place. We can introduce you to restaurants around the world to whet your appetite for future visits.

Our goal during this crazy time is to inspire and hopefully entertain you while we wait out the current travel bans and lockdowns around the world. We can all still travel vicariously after all.

The Future of Travel

Who knows what the travel landscape will look like when things start to resume? Maybe we’ll have to stay close to home for a while. If so, our My City stories will give you a local’s perspective for cities around the world. If flights continue to be limited, there are plenty of scenic road trips to consider.

After weeks of virtual museums, we’ll be craving a visit to our favorite cultural sites. And can you imagine how excited we’ll all be to attend a festival again?

If you’re a fan of big adventures, there’s no time like now to start planning. Studies have shown that planning travel triggers the same sense of excitement as the trip itself. So, let’s make the most of this downtime and plan our next adventure.
