Vegan Travel to Italy

It’s difficult enough following a vegan diet, but doing it while traveling would seem close to impossible. And, especially in Italy where delicious home-made pasta, meats and cheeses are over the top tempting.  Luckily, Vegano ItalianoTours, a joint project of Tierno Tours and Green Earth Travels, have teamed up to bring the world of the vegan to Italy with not one but two food-based tours for 2016.

Guided by Julieanna Hever, the famous “Plant-based Dietician”, the first is a week-long trip beginning on July 2^nd which takes the group to southwestern Italy’s Amalfi coast and the overlooked Cilento Coast, with visits to Herculaneum, Padula, and Roccadaspide. With Julieanna, you’ll get a chance to stay two nights in the hills of Sorrento, sail the clear waters of the Cilento Coast, see the Palinuro caves, visit four UNESCO World Heritage sites, and, of course, enjoy genuine Italian vegan meals.

If you opt for the second tour, you’re equally in luck! Author of the best selling cookbook, Artisan Vegan Cheese and co-host of public television’s Vegan Mashup, Miyoko Schinner will be your host from September 24 to October 1 taking you to Puglia, the heel of the “boot” in southeastern Italy. The group will visit Bari, Matera, and Alberobello and will get to spend a day among the Trulli huts and stay two nights in the heart of “i sassi” of Matera, the ancient cave dwellings. You’ll sail the Adriatic Sea and enjoy locally produced olive oil, artichokes and tomatoes while forging lifelong friendships.
