Cabin Fever? WanderLust? Main Street Pops has a temporary fix that will take us away from it all while still self-isolating safely within our abodes – at least for a little while. Since various levels of social distancing and travel limitations will continue for some time, this online festival will offer viewers a “virtual breath of fresh air”, with a series of film shorts that spotlight all of the things we miss and crave the most while staying at home … open spaces, nature, animals, and outdoor adventures. The films are beautiful mini escapes for the whole family!
About the Virtual Film Festival
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival inspires environmental activism and a love for nature through film. The festival usually goes On Tour and participates in more than 250 live events each year, partnering with groups working to protect and restore the important places in their communities. This year, The Wild & Scenic Film Festival has been revised to a live/video-on-demand format offering a safe and meaningful way for audiences to view compelling content while giving back to support our local community in these difficult times.
All ticket holders will receive a link on screening day that activates during a live viewing party the same evening at 7:30 pm so all of us lonely people can watch together and share comments. The video-on-demand link is valid for five additional days for ticket purchasers to view privately on their own.
The Line-Up
The first screening launches on Friday, May 15th, when we’ll visit the first-ever community-run elephant sanctuary in Africa, join the first person with autism to hike every trail in the Great Smoky Mountains, take a mountain bike ride in the Colorado desert, celebrate open spaces everywhere and hear messages from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Greta Thunberg.
Tickets are available at: www.eventbrite.com.
During the second screening party on June 4, you’ll get the buzz with beekeepers in Detroit, be inspired by a cyclist with a brain injury who collects trash, meet a photographer of tiny bugs and celebrate with the wild and rowdy athletes who love to get dirty outdoors!
Tickets are available at: www.eventbrite.com
The third event takes place in July, and the line-up will be announced soon.
The best part about this series is that you will be helping those in need while enjoying these online adventures. One hundred percent of ticket sale proceeds will be donated to local charities such as Front Line Appreciation Groups, shelters, food pantries and relief funds.
