I promise! The Four Seasons Casa Medina will mesmerize you from the moment you step foot inside. A colonial mansion in the quaint Zona G (the Gastronomy zone) that the hospitality behemoth restored in 2015 is the setting for this luxe 62 room hotel. This property is grandly beautiful, with no two rooms alike, and it somehow manages to maintain the original Colonial feel with centuries-old wide plank dark wood floors, stone columns, beamed ceilings, stained glass windows and a cinematic winding staircase.
Public spaces are updated with colorful modern paintings by Colombian artists along with unique modern touches making it a kind of hybrid design-wise. The onsite restaurants and breakfast room showcase contemporary touches, too, with industrial chandeliers and décor that seems almost hipster, yet with an old-world vibe. The building’s architecture actually inspired Colombia’s Ministry of Culture to declare it a monument of cultural interest.
Romantic Accommodations
Accommodations here are especially romantic as some of the rooms come with fireplaces and others with balconies. While it maintains the feeling of a boutique hotel, small sections can be partitioned off for big families or small groups with one central area to entertain and 3 to 4 adjacent rooms. Rooms and suites are furnished in a “nouvelle modern style” that is fresh but retains the sense of spending the night in a cozy Colombian mansion. After a day of sightseeing the relaxing Zen atmosphere will put you right at peace.
Ideal Location
Bogotá is a large bustling city, but Casa Medina will make you feel you’re at home and its ideal location for touring is a big plus. Walk to the Zona G’s fabulous restaurants and cafes or hang-in at Castanyoles, their onsite Mediterranean restaurant and tapas bar which is superb. Have breakfast on their sidewalk terrace where the morning light is magical, and the most spectacular living wall and delicious food will make you want to linger.
A Tony Spa
The hotel’s tony spa offers amazing massages using locally made products and don’t worry about not being able to keep up with your exercise regime. While you’re likely to feel the altitude change in Bogotá if you live at sea level, the gym at Casa Medina is climatized so you won’t feel the elevation while working out! And the outstanding Four Season’s personal service is incomparable, of course.
One doesn’t typically think of the hotel as a highlight of a trip but again just trust me, at Casa Medina you will.
